A day after a 70-year-old hypertensive lost her life to Covid-19 in Ghana, another death has been recorded.
This involves a 93-year-old man, who is also hypertensive.
But he suffered prostate cancer as well and was admitted to a hospital in Accra.
This came to light after the Ghana Health Service (GHS) announced the latest update on the country’s coronavirus case count.
“[The patient came] with a complaint of difficulty in breathing and cough.
“Covid-19 was suspected and patient isolated at the emergency room. Covid-19 samples were taken on 26th May, 2020 and results then confirmed as positive.”
This brings the total number of deaths since Day 1 of the outbreak of the virus to 36.
In all, the country has recorded 7,881 cases of the viral disease.
A total of 2,841 has recovered, leaving the active cases under management at 5,004.
Twenty are still in “severe” and “critical” conditions, out of which two are on ventilators.
So far, the country has conducted a total of 214,956 tests.
