Former President Jerry John Rawlings appears not happy with Professor Kwamena Ahwoi for references the latter made to Kojo Tsikata and Paul Victor Obeng in his recent book.
In the book titled ‘Working With Rawlings’, Prof Ahwoi had inferred that the former president referred to him, former National Security Advisor Tsikata, the late former Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) PV Obeng, his brother, Ato, former Finance Minister Kwame Peprah and former Information Minister Kofi Totobi-Quakyi as the “greedy bastards” he constantly talked about in the Mills administration.
“I was informed by one of the persons I talked to while writing this book that in a number of his interactions with Jerry John Rawlings, he referred to the ‘greedy bastards’ as ‘vultures who needed to be gotten rid of by President Mills, but the President never budged’,” Prof Ahwoi writes.
Former president Rawlings has since taken exception to the content of the book, having served notice that “I will soon deal with the callous agenda of bile by the likes of Kwamena Ahwoi, who are desperately seeking control of the NDC party”.
On Wednesday, August 5, the former president took to his official Twitter page and singled out PV Obeng and Mr Tsikata as not greedy like the book by the former Local Government Minister suggests.
“So, please don’t whitewash your dirt and greed with their names,” he tweeted without revealing his addressee.
I’m not unaware of PV and Kojo Tsikata’s strengths and weaknesses. Greed is not part of them. So please don’t whitewash your dirt and greed with their names.
