The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC), John Dramani Mahama, together with his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has congratulated the youth of Ghana on the occasion of International Youth Day, which is being observed today, August 12.
In Facebook post, the former president urged the youth to “continue to be innovative towards the nation building in these hard times”.
He said youth involvement in the administration of his government, should he be elected, will be key.
“We shall harness the enormous innovative and creative talents and also magnify youth participation in the governance and decision making of our country”, parts of the statement reads.
Mr. Mahama reiterated his promised to create one millions jobs in four years.
“…Everything, every policy, and every sector will be focused on creating jobs for young people.This is anchored in our USD 10 billion #TheBigPush and #1millionJobs plans”, he said.
He invites the public to an engagement his running mate is scheduled to have with the youth later in the day.
“Prof. Jane Naana will join the youth of Ghana in a conversation to celebrate the day as stated in the release.”
International Youth Day is set by the United Nations to celebrate youth in the world with their contribution towards economic and political aspect of the world. This year’s celebration is themed, “Youth Engagement for Global Action”.
