Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed shock at the demise of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Yapei Kusawgu ahead of the 2020 elections Abu Karanma.
He is said to have died in a car accident together with his aide.
The accident happened at Datoyili, near Tamale, Friday night when the PC was returning from the Constituency.
The Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency secretary of the NPP, Mahama Mbonwura, confirmed the news to 3news.com.
“With a heavy heart I announce to you the sudden demise of Hon. Abu Mahama Abudu A.K.A. Abu Kamara and his Aid Kotochi Makers A.K.A. Young Chief in an accident at Datope near Tamale. Hon. Abu Kamara is the parliamentary candidate for Yapei-Kusawgu constituency,” a statement signed by the constituency secretary said.
Dr Bawumia in a Facebook post said “ I have received with shock the tragic demise of our Parliamentary Candidate for Yapei Kusawgu Constituency, Hon. Abu Kamara, his aide Majeed Kotochi and another in an accident at the Datoyili police barrier.
“I sympathise with the families and empathise with our party. May their gentle souls rest in peace,” he said.
