The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will start testing players, coaching staff and officials of the Ghana Premier League clubs Thursday October 22 for COVID-19.
In a statement released by the GFA on their website, they said the tests will be made in order to get ready for the season ahead and testing will begin with Dreams FC.
“This is part of preparations towards the 2020/2021 football season that is expected to commence on November 13, 2020” the statement reads.
“The testing of players and officials, an alliance between the Ghana Football Association and the government covid-19 task force is part of efforts being made to ensure that football is played in the safest possible way.”
All players and staff of the 18 GPL clubs are expected to undergo mandatory testing ‘for the purposes of competition integrity, fairness and transparency’.
The statement concluded by saying that the football governing body will do all that it can to ensure that the COVID-19 protocols will be strictly adhered to.
