Medeama Sporting Club was tipped to win the Ghana Premier League right before the season started.
However, things are not going so well since the season began. For a team normally in the company of the big six, the Yellow and Mauves are yet to make a convincing statement.
They have picked just two wins out of a possible eight. The goals are not trickling in either and their defence is seeing some leakage they have to seal going forward. Medeama have scored 10 goals and conceded 10.
Currently, they are 5 points behind league leaders, AshGold. The clock is ticking and something ought to be done.
Coach Samuel Boadu must bring in results that will satisfy the board in order to keep his job. He obviously needs a helping hand and that could be found in person of Ahmed Toure.
The Burkina Faso forward is back in the league for the sixth time. And many expect him to deliver right away because he is no stranger. Having once played for Kotoko three times and Bechem United once, no one has to show him the way round.
Communications Director for Medeama, Patrick Akoto says the club believes in the 33-year-old’s ability and he will be with the club soon.
“Ahmed Toure will fully begin playing with the club soon, he will have to go through formalities, sign the dotted lines and pass his medicals. We remain confident about his ability but of course he cannot shoulder all the responsibilities” he told 3sports
“He is an iconic figure so far us the GPL is concerned. He’s played for Kotoko and Bechem United. We think he may be the man to unlock the defense of our opponents.” He added.
One cannot help but recall he scored on his Kotoko debut back in 2015 and should he repeat it at Medeama it will provide the grounds for the fans to accept him.
He has proved himself in the Ghanaian top flight before and doing it again may come easy to him.
