Legon Cities Football Club put up a five star performance on Friday, January 22, when they faced AshantiGold Sporting Club at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Royals have struggled all season and were lying at the buttom of the table with only 6 points out of a possible 27 points but have delivered what is no doubt their best performance so far this season.
AshantiGold Sporting Club opened the scoring through Yaw Annor in the first half after capitalizing on Legon Cities goalkeeper Fatau Dauda’s blunder.
Nassiru Mohammed responded quickly for the Royals to restore parity after scoring from a long range.
Yaw Annor scored again for AshantiGold SC to restore their lead.
Just at the stroke of halftime, Jonah Attuquaye scored for Legon Cities to ensure the half time ends in a draw.
The second half was all about Legon Cities Football Club. Baba Mahama scored his first goal for the Royals to make it 3-2. He scored from a low shot in the 18-yard box.
David Cudjoe scored a brace to wrap up Legon Cities Football Club’s second and biggest win of the season.
Fatau Dauda denied Yaw Annor a hatrick after denying him from the spot in the closing stages of the game.
The win takes Legon Cities Football Club out of relegation zone.
