The National Media Commission (NMC) has said it hopes to bring finality to the matter brought against the National Security by management of Citi TV/FM within two weeks.
To achieve this, the commission looks forward to receiving the response of the National Security to the complaints contained in the Citi TV/FM petition within a week.
This follows the arrest, detention and alleged torture of Citi TV/FM journalist, Caleb Kudah, by National Security operatives for allegedly filming within its precincts and the subsequent raid of the media house’s premises to arrest another journalist.
The petition filed by management of Citi FM and Citi TV to the National Media Commission (NMC) disclosed that Mr Kudah had to be taken to hospital for medical care over the physical and psychological torture he went through.
Citi FM’s management is asking the Commission to launch an independent probe into the incident “and recommend appropriate actions therefrom”.
Confirming that the commission received the petition, Executive Secretary of the commission explained on 3FM what is to happen in the coming days.
“We’re today hoping to submit the complaint to National Security for their comments. If we’re able to deliver the complaint today, we hope to receive their comments by next Monday and barring any unforeseen circumstances proceed to the hearing next week Wednesday. Our hope is that within the next two weeks we should be able to bring closure to this matter” he said.
