Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, has disclosed processes are underway to phase out retired police officers who have been re-engaged on contract bases to work with the service.
This was in reaction to a call by the minority in Parliament dismiss all retired police officers on contract from the police service.
But the minister told Dzifa Bampoh in an exclusive interview that the issue is an age-long one which he has committed to fixing it
“The matter of police being on contract is as old as the police service”, he observed
He explained the main challenge with the arrangement is with the quality of officers who have been recruited over the years.
He has however given an assurance that all those police officers will be “retired”.
