Ghana’s most beautiful contestant, Setor Abra Norgbe, seeks the crown to be the multifaceted doctor healing the world in many diverse ways. The young doctor representing the Volta Region believes that combining her profession and pageantry will set the pace for other females to be very dynamic irrespective of profession.
“I want to be a multifaceted doctor. I want to be able to venture into a lot of things, but that notwithstanding, I want health to be the focus. I want to be that diverse doctor that knows a little bit of everything. Where I was trained in Cuba, they teach us something in Spanish which says ‘a doctor who only knows medicine does not even know medicine at all, and so that is my focus.”
The 28-year-old medical doctor is passionate about reading and learning more about culture, so she chose GMB. GMB would help her display her versatility from everything to portray the Ghanaian culture.
“I like to learn a lot, and I believe that you never stop learning. GMB offers you the platform to learn about your culture. I have been out of the country for seven years, so I feel it is the place for me to learn more about my culture and others. It will also help me to bring out everything I have learnt that I know about my country. It offers me the platform to actually bring all my project ideas into the Ghanaian setting. And also, add the things I have learnt about Latin American. I feel like it’s a platform that will help me to be more dynamic and creative, so that’s why I chose GMB.”
Setor believes that she stands unique among the others because of her profession. And her outstanding personality from being exposed to different cultures. She loves singing and dancing. She said, “First and foremost, my health background, the fact that I am a medical doctor makes me stand out a lot, and also I realize that probably I have a bit of exposure to other cultures because I travelled outside, and I schooled outside so apart from knowing the Latin American culture, I also had the chance to interact with people from different countries. So, I think that makes me stand out.”
Setor Abra Norgbe hails from Aziame in the Ho municipality of the Volta Region. She had her Basic education at the Madonna junior high school in Koforidua. And continued at the University of Ghana junior Basic school. She then gained admission at the Ola Girls Senior High School, where she proceeded to read Biochemistry at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology for a year. She then travelled to Cuba to study medicine for seven years.
Setor is hopeful about winning the crown. And believes that her exit from the contest should leave a mark on the well-meaning Ghanaians.
“Whether I win GMB or not, I hope to have left a statement in the heart of Ghanaians. I hope to have been able to carry out that message or that impact that I want to have on people, especially upcoming young girls and generally people in society. I want to have been able to educate people on health issues that have been neglected, especially on my mental health project.”
