Former Presidential Spokesperson Samuel Koku Anyidoho is least enthused about resurgent efforts by some elements within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), particularly former President John Dramani Mahama to eulogise the late former President Professor John Evans Atta Mills.
On Tuesday, February 1, Mr Mahama joined several high-profile dignitaries to launch the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage at the Cedi Conference Center of the University of Ghana.
Reacting after the event on TV3‘s News @10, Mr Anyidoho said it is too late for these persons, especially Mr Mahama, to honour the death of his predecessor “when we have been doing this for the past 10 years when it was not in vogue”.
He said the former president was the direct beneficiary of the death of the law professor in 2012 but deliberately refused to honour him in many ways.
“John Mahama was President for four-and-a-half years,” he noted, “he was the direct beneficiary of the death of President Mills. He became President for four-and-a-half years. What did he do to remember the death of President Mills?”
He said the real character of former president Mahama was seen when he “deliberately refused to build the Asomdwee Park”.
“He didn’t forget, he just deliberately refused to build the Asomdwee Park,” he emphasized.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Atta Mills Institute, nevertheless, welcomed Mr Mahama on-board celebration of the late President, at least commending him for appropriating some projects embarked upon under the Atta Mills government finally to him.
