Omanhen of the Essikadu Traditional Area Nana Kobina Nketsiah V has charged the Ghana Police Service not to hesitate but quickly take persons found to be behind the assault on Connect FM’s Eric Nana Gyetuah to court just as they did to embattled Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Sekondi-Takoradi Abdul-Mumin Issah.
He observes such sense of urgency will only demonstrate to Ghanaians that the Ghana Police Service is impartial and upholds its “mantra of ‘Service in Integrity’”.
Suspended Sekondi-Takoradi MCE Abdul-Mumin Issah on Wednesday, February 2 violated road traffic regulations and went ahead to verbally abuse a police officer who had arrested him.
Abdul-Mumin Issah was, all but immediately, sent to court and is currently on bail.
Nana Kobina Nketsiah V believes the Ghana Police Service must be seen as treating all cases equally.
“In one instance, the police has gone to court… I so pray that perpetrators in the dastardly act of assault are also taken to court…”.
The Essikadu Omanhen was speaking on the visit of the Board Chairman of Media General Kojo Yankah to his palace.
Mr. Kojo Yankah is on a working visit to Media General’s subsidiary Connect FM.
Nana Kobina Nketsia V expressed surprise it had to take the Inspector General Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare to act when the incident happened, questioning the relevance “of the police here”.
“Is there no police here, why must we go to the IGP before we can see action taken?”
The visit of the Board Chairman of Media General, Kojo Yankah, is to afford him the opportunity to solicit for assessment from authorities in the region as well as the listeners on the performance of Connect FM.
