The Western Region Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Japheth Baidoo, has died.
He is reported to have died in the wee hours of Wednesday, February 16 after a short illness.
Western Region Communications Officer of the party Richard Kirk Mensah confirmed the news of the death of Mr. Baidoo to host of Connect FM’s morning show Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson amidst tears.
According to him, Mr. Baidoo had recovered from his illness and was preparing to begin party work “vigorously as he has always done”.
“Only yesterday I visited him and he told me of his burning desire to hit the road running. So, I am completely shattered by the news of his death. This is so unbelievable.”
According to him, “the love Japheth had for the party is unmatched. You can call him anytime. Even thick in the night, Japheth will respond once it is something to enhance the chances of the party”.
He recounted the sterling organisational skills of Mr. Baidoo and said “a yawning gap has been created by his death”.
He indicated that all party activities in the region will be suspended to mourn Mr. Baidoo.
