The Attorney General and Minister of Justice has requested a file for Aisha Huang’s recent offences, for which she is standing trial at an Accra Circuit Court.
The popular Chinese galamsey businesswoman was arrested through intelligence after it was realised she has beaten immigration protocols to re-enter Ghana.
She had been deported in 2018 despite being found guilty for unlawfully engaging in small-scale mining.
Therefore, it came as a surprise to many for her to continue to engage in the same offence for which she was deported.
The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), after public backlash, has rejected all accusations of porosity at the country’s borders.
Head of Public Affairs Michael Amoako-Atta insists that the result of their diligence led to the arrest of Aisha Huang, also known as En Huang.
Before she re-appears in court on Wednesday, September 14, the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, wants not only a fresh docket opened but he will also revisit the 2018 docket to continue her prosecution.
The notorious Chinese businesswoman has been slapped with two charges of mining without a licence, and engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a valid licence.
Already, the Service has hinted at a two-year jail term if she is found to have breached the regulations before entry.
