Media General’s Northern Region correspondent Christopher Amoako has won the Best Education Reporter at the 2021 Northern Region Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards.
He was among six other nominees who were awarded for their contributions towards development in the Region.
His journalistic works over the years have helped to bring to the fore major challenges facing education in the northern part of Ghana.
The other journalist who also won Awards were: Joyce Kankam Kolamong, Best Water and Sanitation Award; Mohammed Alabira, Citi FM/TV, Best Rural Reporter; Prince Kwame Tamakloe, Best Health Reporter, Rainbow Radio International; Eric Kombat, Best Agric Reporter, Daily Guide; and Comfort Sena Fetiri, Best Road Safety Reporter, Ghana News Agency.
Three other radio and one television station in the Savannah, Northern and North East regions were also honoured with citations. Nobya FM in the North East Region was adjudged the Best Radio Station; Neesim FM in Tamale Best in Current Affairs; Nkilgi FM in Bole Best Radio Station online news portal; and Sagani TV in Tamale for Best Community Programme.
Daily Graphic’s Mohammed Fugu, was adjudged the Best Journalist of the Year 2021.
This year’s GJA Awards (Northern, North East and Savannah Regions) was on the theme: ‘Promoting Tourism and Culture to Create Jobs: The Role of the Media’.
It brought together politicians, traditional leaders, development practitioners, journalists and other media practitioners in the three regions.
