Former President John Dramani Mahama has won the presidential primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday, May 13.
He polled 297,603 representing 98.9% of the total valid votes emerging as the flagbearer-elect of the NDC while his contender Kojo Bonsu managed to 3,181 representing 1.1% of the total votes.
Mr Mahama’s spokesperson Joyce Bawah Mogtari said they exceeded their target.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari in a tweet said “Waiting for the final result, but we have exceeded our expectations! So far 98% for HE John Dramani Mahama!
“The masses have spoken out and loudly! Thank you to the delegates! Our supporters and our volunteers.”
Mr Kojo Bonsu congratulated Mr Mahama for winning the polls.
“I have placed a call to H.E John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him for the landslide victory. Just as I have indicated throughout my campaign, regardless of the outcome of this election, I will continue to serve the NDC party, thank you” he tweeted.
