The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has disclosed that it has released over GHC300 million in payment of claims to healthcare facilities across the country.
This was contained in a statement issued by the authority dated Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
According to the authority, the amount covers “the claims vetted for higher tier facilities up to January 2024,” adding that “for lower tier facilities, the payments are within the acceptable three-month debt period.”
The Acting Chief Executive of the Authority, Dr Aboagye Da-Costa, indicated that the release demonstrates NHIA’s commitment to maintaining the smooth operation of healthcare services and ensuring the sustainability of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Additionally, Dr Aboagye Da-Costa emphasised that the disbursement aims to enhance the quality of care provided to all NHIS members and support the operational needs of healthcare providers.
“The NHIA appreciates the cooperation and patience of all healthcare providers and assured them of continuous efforts to improve the efficiency and timeliness of claims processing and payments,” the statement added.
