Former Finance Minister under the John Evans Atta Mills led National Democratic Congress, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has denied claims he is working the grassroots in preparation for a presidential bid.
An artwork circulating on social media, indicated the President of the HODA group, (owners of Unibank, Star Assurance, EIB Network and many other companies) is campaigning for the flagbeareship position of the NDC years ahead of the party’s congress.
But in a statement Dr. Duffuor said he had “retired” from politics, haven served the country in “various capacities” and so knows nothing about the campaigns.
Read statement below.
RE; KWABENA DUFFUOR TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT IN 2020.
My attention has been drawn to various publications on some media outlets and social media suggesting that I intend to contest for President in 2020.
For the avoidance of any doubt, I wish to put on record that I have no intention, whatsoever, to contest for any elective public office.
I have served my country in various capacities and consider myself a statesman who is retired from active politics.
God bless Ghana.
