President Akufo-Addo has unveiled the logo for the Ghana @60 celebrations and has called on Ghanaians to help support the anniversary financially.
The president at the unveiling ceremony on Thursday January 9, 2017 announced that the celebrations will cost GHC20 million to fund.
According to him, the state will not be able to raise the full amount hence the need for corporate bodies and individuals to get involved.
“I am hoping that individual Ghanaians, Ghanaian private sector and Corporate Ghana in particular, will provide the funds for this anniversary and my ambition is to commemorate the anniversary with a minimum or no burden at all on the national treasury”.
The president while inaugurating the committee put in charge of organizing event around the celebrations asked members to ensure they peg it at a modest cost although somewhat elegant.
He charged the Ken Amankwah led committee to put together a comprehensive programme of events for the 60th Anniversary which is about 7 weeks away.
At the unveiling ceremony yesterday, Mr Amankwa who earlier communicated members of the committee would not burden the public with their remunerations, asked that corporate Ghana supports the other components of the event as is being planned.
