Yinson Ghana has deepened its commitment to strengthening Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education as it trained 100 teachers from 84 schools in in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.

The fourth annual STEM Training for teachers’ programme, forms part of the company’s broader efforts to build the capacity of educators to drive practical, technology-focused learning in classrooms.
During the training, participants engaged in hands-on exercises using voltmeters, ammeters, connecting wires, bulbs, batteries and battery cages to enhance their understanding of electrical circuits and basic electronics concepts.
A key highlight was a practical project on automotive motion light systems. Teachers worked with components such as sensors, jumper wires, channel relays, plugs, lamp holders and flexible wires, gaining foundational skills in electronics and introductory robotics. The project is expected to help teachers replicate similar STEM activities in their schools, stimulating creativity, problem-solving and experiential learning among students.
With programmes such as this, Yinson Ghana continues to champion STEM education, bridging the gap between theory and practice, and prepare young learners for a technology-driven future.

The Ahanta West Municipal Director of Education, George Effah at the training emphasized the centrality of science education to national development.
He said quality science teaching requires curiosity-driven methods that encourage learners to explore, question and innovate.
“Science is not merely a body of knowledge but a disciplined way of thinking. These qualities can only be cultivated when teachers are equipped to make science real and engaging for learners,” he noted.
Mr. Effah noted that the Yinson STEM Clinic was timely and impactful intervention that consistently enriches the teaching experience in the municipality.
He urged the participants to fully embrace the training, adding that their improved competence directly influences learning outcomes.
“When teachers excel, learners excel, and when learners excel, our municipality thrives,” he said.
He praised Yinson for their continued support in enhancing education in the Municipality.
Yinson’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Coordinator, Mr. Edward Mensah said the company considers education as a critical pillar of its community development agenda.
“At Yinson, we believe in the power of education and its ability to transform lives and communities. Our commitment to corporate social responsibility is rooted in our desire to contribute positively to the societies in which we operate,” he said.
He noted that STEM education remains vital to Ghana’s technological progress, and equipping teachers is a strategic way of nurturing the next generation of innovators.
“By empowering teachers with the right tools and methods, we are inspiring young minds and building a stronger future for our communities,” he added.
He commended GES and the Youth Bridge Foundation for their collaboration and expertise, expressing confidence that the initiative would deliver lasting value to students and the wider municipality.
