The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Nanumba branch has donated some cupboards to the two Nanumba North and South education directorates to assist in storing documents.
At a presentation ceremony at the GNAT Secretariat in Bimbilla in the Nanumba North municipality of the Northern Region, the local GNAT Chairman, Mohammed Wumbei, said the gesture is to help the municipal education office in the keeping of records at the office.
“We have noted that records keeping is key which is why GNAT Nanumba is making the presentation to the office”
The Municipal Director of Education, Amatus D. Tug-uu expressed his profound gratitude to the Association for the donation, and promised that the items would be put to good use.
“I wish to express our profound gratitude to GNAT Nanumba for the kind gesture. I wish to assure you that we are going to put the items to good use and make sure that we maintain them.”
Mr. Amatus further urged the association to collaborate with him to seek and address the welfare of teachers in the municipality by instituting a welfare scheme to assist members particularly those who are coming from outside and working in the municipality.
“I would want you to work with me to ensure that we have welfare packages for our teachers. Many at times, it is not everybody who is coming from this municipality, so those of us who are far away, if one day the unexpected happens, it would be good for at least a number of us to accompany whoever that may be to wherever that the person is sent to”.
The local branch of the Association in Nanung held a sendoff for its old executives who had ended their tenure.
