The Tema East New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused National Democratic Congress (NDC) party supporters of being behind an attack on its party office.
Its executives say they will report the incident to the police for the law to take its course.
Addressing a press conference at the constituency party office in Tema New Town, the Constituency Secretary Nene Sackitey, said the party will ensure perpetrators are brought to book immediately.
He assured that the incident will not derail their prospects in the December 7 election.
“We see it as a defeatest mentality. It is a symptom of political ebola. I want the NDC to know we are winning this election and winning convincingly. No inferior tactics are going to distract us from our main objective,” Mr. Sackitey said.
He added that his party has made its concerns known to the NDC and expects further dialogue.
“The [NDC] leadership is saying that they are going to meet us behind closed doors to resolve this,” he indicated.
According to Mr. Sackitey, an electricity meter and some louvre blades at the party office were destroyed during the incident.
The NPP also says some of its billboards in the constituency were destroyed.
Mr. Sackitey expects the NDC to pay for the damages.
“We are going to quantify our assets… this is going to cost money and we are going to surcharge them as expected,” he told Citi News.
