Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie and Mathew Tetteh-Tevie
An Accra High Court has sentenced three former Board Members of the National Communications Authority (NCA) to a total of 16 years’ imprisonment.
The convicts, Eugene Baffoe-Bonnie, a former board chairman; Mathew Tetteh-Tevie, a former Director General and Alhaji Salifu Osman, a former Deputy National Security Coordinator on the NCA board were jailed for their various roles in the purchase of surveillance system for the National Security Secretariat.
The court presided over by Justice Eric Kyei Baffuor, a Court of Appeal judge sitting with additional responsibility as a High Court judge, found Baffoe-Bonnie guilty of four charges including causing financial loss to the state, money laundering and sentenced him to six year’ imprisonment in hard labour.
Mr. Tetteh-Tevie was found guilty of five counts and sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
Alhaji Salifu Mimina was also found guilty of five charges and was handed a five years’ imprisonment term.
The court also ordered the state to seize the properties of the convicts to defray the $3 million debt incurred on the state.
The court however acquitted and discharged a member of the board, Dr Nana Owusu Ensaw and businessman, George Dereck Oppong.
