Remembrance Day marked in Ho
Ho, Nov. 11, GNA - Nine officers and 210 men and women of the security services, under the command of Captain Eric Amankwa of the 66th Artillery Regiment were on parade on Sunday to mark Remembrance Day 2012 in Ho.
Mr Henry Ford Kamel, Volta Regional Minister, laid a wreath on behalf of the President, Lieutenant-Colonel Abass Seidu, Commanding Officer of the 66 Artillery Regiment, for the Security Services.
Other wreaths were laid by Togbe Kwaku Ayim, IV, Paramount Chief of Ziavi Tradtional Area, for the chiefs and people of the region and Ex-Warrant Officer William Wogba for the Veterans Association of Ghana.
Besides the contingents of Soldiers, Police, Prison, Immigration and Fire services on parade, was a 20-member body of the Veterans Association of Ghana.
A two-minute silence was held in remembrance of veterans and prayers were said for successful elections.
November 11 each year is observed throughout the world to remember members of the Armed Forces who lost their lives in the course of duty since the end of First World War.
