Koforidua marks Remembrance Day
Koforidua, Nov. 11, GNA- Nineteen Veterans on Sunday took part in the 67th Remembrance Day Service parade at Koforidua Jackson Park.
The parade was under the command of Captain Enoch Awudu of the First Infantry Battalion whilst music was provided by the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana Police Service band.
Captain Father Francis Agyeman, who committed the event to the Lord, said it should rekindle the spirit of dedication to professionalism for which the gallant soldiers who fought in the world war were being remembered for.
At exactly 11am, the siren was sounded followed by the recital of a verse by ex-warrant Officer Class One Michael M. Boateng a war veteran after which a minute silence was observed.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Victor Smith laid a wreath on behalf of the President and the Republic of Ghana, Lieutenant Colonel Fred Ntiri, Commanding Officer of the First Infantry Brigade laid one on behalf of the security services, Omanhene of New Juaben, Daasebre Oti Boateng on behalf of the chiefs and people and the Regional Chairman of the Veterans Association of Ghana, ex WO1 Ntow Ode on behalf of the veterans in the region.
