Accra, May 1, GNA – Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo said Ghana is no exception in the menance of illicit drugs bedevilling the West Africa Sub-Region.

It aimed at creating awareness among the youth, encourage and educate them on the pursuit of their talents and passion.

Available statistics from the Out-Patients Department (OPD) of the health facilities show that the cases dropped from a total of 29,829 in year 2011 to 26,290, last year, after the distribution.

The two-hour walk drew participation from the police, prisons, military, immigration and the Ghana National Fire Service.

In addition, the company screened children of the orphanage to check their health status as part of activities marking this year’s May Day celebration.

The Minister gave the advice at his maiden visit to the 48 Field Engineers Regiment and the commissioning of the newly constructed Regimental Headquarters building in Accra.

The workers had earlier gone on a route march through some of the principal streets, carrying placards with messages like “Housing for workers is a must now”, “Health sector, the engineer of the nation”, “Our retention premium must be increased, The teacher deserves better salary”, “Mr President help MMT like JAK and Mills did”, and “Inflation, interest rates, unemployment, strikes, government must sit up”.

Accra, May 1, GNA - The National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) in collaboration with Ministry of Education and TrustAfrica, a foundation in Senegal is organising a National Policy Dialogue on Tertiary Education from May 8 – May 9, in Accra.

He said the worsening condition which is gradually becoming a major characteristic of some urban areas in the country is unacceptable and urged district assemblies to enforce their by-laws on sanitation.

The NGO seeks to promote the health of children and adults born with cleft lip and palate, through awareness creation and identification of people with these deformities for free surgery.

He said a strong economy would establish the basis of a reliable pension, which would assure workers of a real income security.

President John Dramani Mahama, who issued the instruction, also asked organized labour to consider government as partners, by effectively collaborating in various ways with authorities to eliminate differences that result in industrial actions.

He said cases that are sent to the court apart from being time consuming were costly and slow.
