Nkawie (Ash), Jan. 9, GNA – A 21-year-old auto-mechanic has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment by the Nkawie Circuit Court for robbery. Daniel Addae Boateng had attacked a hairdresser at Abuakwa, in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District at knife-point, and robbed her of a lady’s handbag and cash of GH¢95.00. He pleaded guilty to the crime. Police Detective Inspector James Appiah-Kubi told the court presided over by Mr William Boampong that this happened on January 6, at about midnight. The victim, Ms Irene Dufie, was returning from a party when the convict emerged from nowhere, pulled a knife and ordered her to surrender her bag and money, which she did. The prosecution said since they lived in the same neighbourhood, the lady had no difficulty identifying him after she had made a formal report to the police.GNA
