Ho, Jan. 9, GNA -The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) Thursday out-doored a 15-Seater Toyota Hiace bus for the use of the media in the region. The bus, estimated at GH¢92,629.95 was purchased by the Municipal and District Assemblies to facilitate the monitoring of development projects and promotional activities of the VRCC and the Assemblies. The bus would be managed by the VRCC. Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Volta Regional Minister, in a symbolic presentation of the bus to the media said it would facilitate a much closer interaction between the media and the Assemblies, describing it as a“wise investment.†“This has come at the right time and the Assemblies must submit requests for its use to project their areas,†he said. Mr Michael Kobla Adzaho, Dean of Municipal and District Chief Executives said the press bus would foster closer relationships between pressmen and the Assemblies. Mr Victor Kwawukume, Volta Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) commended Mr Afotey Agbo and Mr Emmanuel Bedzra, Member of Parliament for Ho-West for their continual support to the GJA. He called on the Municipal District Chief Executives to operate open-door policies and be opened for constructive criticism. Mr Kwawukume was hopeful the press bus would help strengthen the symbiotic relationship between the Assemblies and pressmen based on “mutual trust.†The VRCC also acquired a Toyota Coaster welfare bus for its staff.
