Juaso (Ash), Jan. 23, GNA – An ex-convict, Kwadwo Frimpong, is returning to prison to serve a six-year sentence in hard labour after being convicted for causing harm.He had inflicted cutlass wounds on one Doris Frimpomaa at Domeabra in the Asante-Akim North District during a failed bid to rape her.This happened on December 24, 2012, and the victim had to be kept on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for three weeks.Frimpong fled to Atebubu in Brong-Ahafo, where he committed another crime (theft), for which, he was imprisoned for six months.He was re-arrested immediately after serving out the jail-term to stand trial at the Juaso Circuit Court for the earlier offence.Police Chief Inspector Leo Boateng told the court presided over by Mr. Alex Obeng Asante that the woman had engaged Frimpong to assist her carry some foodstuff on her farm.Whilst there, the convict asked her for sex, which she refused and in a cruel bid to force her into submission, he began slashing the woman, with a cutlass.Doris managed to run to a nearby farm, where one Akwasi Hene, rushed her to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.The ex- convict pleaded guilty to the crime.GNA
