Court remands teacher who posed as doctor
Kumasi, April 8, GNA A 19-year- old self-professed teacher has been arrested for allegedly posing as a medical doctor at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). Kofi Fiifi, who claims he teaches French at the Da-costa Academy International School, a private school at Ayigya in Kumasi, was caught wearing a white coat with a stethoscope around the neck. He was put before a Kumasi Circuit Court and remanded into prison custody to make his next appearance on Tuesday, April 8. The accused is charged with impersonation but he denies any wrongdoing. Police Inspector Gulliver Kwabena Tenkorang told the court presided over by Mr William Boampong that Fiifi was arrested by the hospitals security personnel on April 2. They had seen him hanging out at the facility and demanded to know details about his duty point and that was when the trouble started he kept fumbling and finally confessed he was not a doctor but a medical student.The prosecution said he was handed over to the police and again he shifted from the medical student claim to French teaching.Fiifi maintained in court that he was studying medicine in Togo but had to abandon the course because of the death of his guardian (an uncle).He said he decided to come down to Ghana to figure out if he could achieve that life-long ambition of pursuing a career in the medical profession.GNA
