Miss Theresah Anarfi, Head, TMA Community Development Unit, called on parents especially, mothers, to see to the personal hygiene and nutritional needs of their wards in school to compliment government’s free education policy.
According to her, the free education policy and the School Feeding Programme have not taken away the responsibility of parents to provide for the needs of children.
She urged parents to encourage their daughters to take up roles and jobs perceived to be only good for men.
According to her “in the choice of careers, most parents tend to allow boys to take up courses like engineering ,construction, medicine and other science and technology courses” adding that the girl-child is willing and able to take her place in academic and professional summits.
She called on all Ghanaians to be ambassadors of promoting the rights of women and ultimately encouraging them to take up leadership positions.
