Afosu (E/R), April 4, GNA - Obrempon Kwesi Amoh Kyeretwie I, Chief of Abirim has called on government to support students in the private tertiary institutions to help ease their financial burdens.
He made the appeal at the third matriculation ceremony of the Afosu Nursing and Midwifery Training School in the Birim North District.
Obirimpon Kyeretwie said attention was needed in the private universities sector because they help ease pressure on the public tertiary institutions in the country.
He said students in the private institutions also go through the same national service as those in the public institutions hence the need for governmental support.
Obrempon Kyeretwie I, urged students to attend to their education and avoid indecent forms of behaviours and urged parents to place high premium on the education of their wards.
Madam Mary Naah, the Principal of the school, said the school currently has a student population of 467 and would be admitting 224 students from next academic year.
She said the academic performance of the first batch of students that sat for the examination by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana was encouraging as 129 out of 139 graduated successfully.
She advised the matriculants not to engage in fruitless and promiscuous activities but rather integrate academic excellence with moral uprightness.
