Winneba (CR), May 5, GNA - The Effutu Municipal Assembly members on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly to endorse Mr John Bartholomew Ninsin as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area.
Mr Ninsin, a Chartered Accountant, polled 24 votes with two rejected votes to make up a total of 26 members of the Assembly.
The confirmation of the MCE was supervised by Ms Emilia Akotia, Effutu Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Mr Ninsin was sworn-in by Mr Isaac Oheneba Kufuour, Effutu Municipal Magistrate Court Judge.
Mr Sylvester Silver, Presiding member (PM) of the Effutu Municipal Assembly in his welcome address, asked the members of the Assembly to bury their political differences and voted for the President Nana Akufo-Addo’s nominee to speed up development.
Mr Kwamena Duncan, Central Regional Minister, commended members of the Assembly for their high sense of direction and acceptance of the President’s nominee for Effutu Municipality.
He urged the MCE to practice transparent and open door administration to enable him succeed, saying that it would be better to work together as team with the members of the Assembly to avoid failure.
The Regional Minister called on the newly sworn-in MCE to be a good listener to all members of the Assembly and heads of decentralized department despite their political affiliation to avert misfortune.
He praised the Chiefs and people of the Effutu Traditional Area for maintaining peace and stability in the celebration of the annual Aboakyer festival and urged them to keep it up.
Mr Alex Afenyo Markin, MP for Effutu, praised the members of the Assembly for the confirmation of the MCE, adding that their attitudes showed that Effutu Municipality was yearning for change in developmental projects.
The MP assured the people that everything possible would be done to ensure that Winneba becomes a better place to live in, adding that the policies and programmes of President Akufo-Addo led government would improve socio-economic advancement of the people.
Mr Ninsin, MCE on his part thanked the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, for the confidence reposed in him by appointing him as MCE for the Effutu Municipal Assembly.
He also commended Members of the Assembly for the trust and confidence reposed in him and for voting overwhelmingly to confirm him for the position of MCE.
Mr Ninsin said having worked for 35 years as a public servant had given him enough expertise and experience that would enable him to make positive impact in the public administration.
He assured Assembly members that there would be no cause for alarm to meddle in chieftaincy matters in the Efffutu Traditional Area to ensure peace and development.
