Accra, May 10, GNA – A Clearing Agent, Judy Ekame, who is alleged to have abetted one James Kwaku Ekame and two others now at large to commit crime to wit robbery was on Wednesday granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court.
Judy pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢30,000.00 with two sureties. She is also to report to the Police once every week.
Her accomplice, James who also pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy to commit crime and robbery was however remanded by the court to reappear on May 16.
The facts of the case as presented by Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu was, the complainant is a Lawyer with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission and lives with her husband at Narhman.
He said James is a Securityguard with G7 Security Services, while Judy is a Clearing Agent at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra.
He said the complainant is an aunt to both accused persons and had lived with Judy for 10 years until April 22.
The prosecution said, on April 21, at about 02:30 hours, the complainant and her husband were attacked and robbed by three armed men.
The robbers succeeded in robbing them of one Ipad, one wrist watch, three Ghanaian passports, GH¢3,500.00 and an unspecified amount of US Dollars, Euros and Pound Sterling.
Chief Inspector Adu told the court that, the complainant during the attack identified James as her nephew and a brother to Judy.
She suspected that Judy gave information to James who organized the attack.
The two, however, denied their involvement in the crime.
