Accra, May 9, GNA – Mr Habib Saad, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom, has urged drivers to be extra careful and tolerant whilst driving to avoid accidents.
He said the spate of accidents in the country was alarming and stakeholders must find a way of curbing the situation to avoid losing precious lives.
Mr Saad gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after a seminar organised by the drivers of Iron City, near Kasoa in the Ga South Municipality in the Greater Accra.
He asked drivers to desist from overloading, speeding and wrongful overtaking, saying that such behaviours were the major causes of accidents on the roads.
The MP advised driver associations to organise regular educational programmes for their members, apart from those normally carried out during Christmas, Easter and festivals to minimise the spate of accidents.
He called on pedestrians to remain focused when walking along the roads or attempting to cross.
