Ho, June 5, GNA - This year's Basic Education Certificate Examination has started in the Volta Region smoothly with no recorded irregularities.
Checks by the Ghana News Agency indicated that the exercise started on time at most centres, but about ten minutes late at a few centres due to late arrival of examination materials.
Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, the Regional Minister during a tour of some centres, urged the candidates to put up their best to be beneficiaries of the government's free senior high school policy.
At the Mawuli School, the examination commenced at 0900 hours with 297 pupils from ten schools and 395 from 14 schools at centres A and B respectively.
One male student was deceased.
The examination started on time at Mawuko Senior High School, which had 10 schools and a total of 365 pupils.
