Accra July 27, GNA - L’Oreal West Africa, a subsidiary of the world’s leading beauty company, has refurbished the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre of the Martey Tsuru Presbyterian Basic School, in Accra as part of its Citizens’ Day.
The company thus presented four desk-top computer and accessories, renovated and painted the structure, provided furniture, ceiling fans and other things to make the facility more conducive for the 200 plus users.
The company also constructed a staircase, painted the school building; as well as provided some dustbins to improve sanitation among others.
The Day is observed annually as part of the Company's Corporate Social Responsibility to mobilise its staff to undertake activities and give back to the communities ‘as espoused by the L’Oreal Spirit.’
Mr Sekou Coulibaly, the General Manager of L’ Oreal West Africa, said beyond business the Company needed to build a sustainable environment for the future.
Therefore, as a commitment to the community’s progress, the Company invested in the school to secure the future of Africa.
He said investment in education was essential to build successful adult lives to contribute to national development.
Mr Coulibaly, therefore, urged them to adopt good maintenance habits to keep the facility in good shape for the benefit of future pupils.
He said the Company would continue to support to the communities for development.
The Reverend Emmanuel Sowah, the Local Manager of the School, said ICT was ruling the world hence the refurbishment of the facility would equip pupils with skills to aid their development.
Mr Albert Akornor, the Head teacher of the School, expressed gratitude to L'Oreal for its continued support to communities across the country.
He said the Facility would help the pupils to adapt to the new changes of development and keep pace with them.
The Staff undertook a clean-up exercise to clear debris that had piled up.
