Accra, Sept. 20, GNA - Coach of the national under 17 football team, Paa Kwesi Fabian is expected to release his final squad for the 2017 FIFA under 17 world cup on Thursday September 21.
Fabian will have to prune his squad 24 to 21 players and submit it by close of Thursday to meet FIFA’s deadline for participating teams to submit their final list.
The team is currently on a training tour in Abu Dhabi where they have lined up two friendly games before departing to India to begin their campaign from October 6.
The Black Starlets will play the first friendly in Dubai on Wednesday against Mali at the Mohammad Bin Zved Stadium before naming the final squad. Ghana will play United Arab Emirates at 17:30 GMT four days later in Dubai.
The head of the Black Starlets management committee, lawyer Kweku Ayiah believes it will be a tough task for the coach as the players have all proven themselves.
"We will name the final list on the Thursday September 21," Lawyer Ayiah confirmed.
"The players have been very serious with their training so far because each one of them want to make the cut. Sometimes I get even scared and pray that none of them gets hurt looking at how serious they train. But the good thing is we have no injury worries in camp so far as the doctors have confirmed."
The final 21 man squad will comprise 3 goalkeepers and 18 outfield players.
Ghana is in Group A together with USA, Colombia and host India.
