Accra, Oct. 20, GNA - The Ambassador of the State of Israel to Ghana, Ami Mehl, on Thursday launched the Cultural Week of Israel in Ghana.
The Israeli Cultural week starts from October 26th and ends on November 1st, 2017.
The Ambassador said at a press conference in Accra that since the Embassy of the State of Israel re-opened in Ghana in 2011, the two countries had continued to enjoy cordial relations and cooperation in diverse ways.
He noted that the friendly partnership had witnessed Israel and Ghana co-operate in areas such as agriculture, economics, communication, health amongst others.
Mr. Mehl said in 2016 the Ghana Israel Business Chamber (GIBC) was opened in Accra to promote business between the two countries.
“In September this year through the Embassy and the GIBC, we were able to mobilize and facilitate the participation of professionals from the Water and Sanitation industry in the Water Technology and Environmental Control Conference and Exhibition 2017, which took place in Tel Aviv,” the Ambassador stated.
He touched on a number of other areas of corporation between Ghana and Israel and added, that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who was the Guest of Honour at the ECOWAS Summit in Liberia in June this year, had a private meeting with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the summit.
Mr. Mehl said to strengthen relations between the two countries; “we are dedicating the last week in October, which is from 26th October to 1st November 2017, to celebrate a fusion of Israeli and Ghanaian Cultures through arts, music, fashion, food and wine”.
He said funds were expected to be raised from the event in aid of fistula patients in Ghana.
The event, collaboration between the Embassy of Israel, the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City-Accra, and some Israeli partners in Ghana, would take place at the Kempiski Hotel in Accra.
It would show-case Israeli culture, through a number of activities, including a show by International Flutists, Mattan Klein, a show by Israeli Fashion Designer-Betty Eldad, as well as Ghanaian designer Royal Dennis amongst others.
