Tarkwa (W/R), Nov 24, GNA - Members of the Artisans Association in Tarkwa have donated GH?6,050.00to the Apinto Traditional Council in the Wasa Fiase Traditional area.
The gesture formed part of measure to promote the Ghanaian culture, especially as the traditional authorities prepare to celebrate this year's Mankuma festival.
Making the presentation at a short ceremony in Tarkwa, the chairman of the association, Mr Haruna Yahaya said the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility.
Receiving the money on behalf of the council, Nana Kwabena Obo II, the Apinto Akyeamehene, expressed gratitude to the artisans for the donation and assured that it would be used for the benefit of the citizenry.
He called on individuals, organizations and institutions to emulate the artisans by making similar donations to the Apinto Traditional Council.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Nana Obo II stated that from December 11 to 17, 2017, the people of Awudua, in Apinto Traditional Area would celebrate the Mankuma festival.
He said the week-long celebration which would be climaxed on December 17 is on the theme “Pursuing development in stability".
Nana Obo II said other activities to mark the celebration include; quiz competition, clean-up exercise, football gala, street jams, durbar and special thanks giving service.
The Apinto Akyeamehene appealed to citizens of Awudua both home and abroad to contribute towards the success of the celebration by getting involved in all the activities.
