Enchi (W/R), April 9, GNA - Two young men who allegedly stole an unregistered motor bike have been granted bail in the sum of GH¢4,000.00 each, with a surety each, by the Enchi District Magistrate court.
The accused Kwame Antwi, 22, farm laborer and Amadu Issah, a 27 year-old farmer pleaded not guilty.
Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Anim Ofori told the court, presided over by Mr Solomon Kwesi Alormatu that the complainant's in the case lives at Ebikwawkrom in the Aowin Municipality.
He said the accused are residents of Kwesi Ahakrom a village near Sefwi Nsawora in the Sefwi Wiawso District.
ASP Anim Ofori said on February 18, this year Antwi and Issah planned to steal motor bikes in communities around Enchi in Aowin.
The prosecution said on February 19 at about 8:00 pm the two set off from Kwesi Ahakrom on an unregistered Haojin motor bike to embark on a stealing spree.
He said when the accused arrived at Nyankamamu community around 2:00 am, they parked their bike by the road side and Issah entered the village while his accomplice Antwi kept the watch.
ASP Anim Ofori said Amadu then went to the house of a witness in this case and stole his unregistered boxer motor bike parked in his corridor and pushed it quietly to where Antwi was waiting.
He said Antwi then connected some wires and managed to move the bike towards Sefwi Nsawora direction and Amadu also followed with their own bike.
The Prosecution said the accused who were not satisfied with the largesse on reaching Ebikwawkrom decided to mount another operation, but some community members raised an alarm on seeing them so they sped off.
According to the prosecution the complainant's then alerted all the surrounding villages to be on the lookout for the two suspects.
He said when Antwi and Amadu got to Teye Kwesi village the people ordered them to stop but they failed to stop upon which gun was fired.
The accused sensing danger abandoned the motor bikes and fled into a nearby bush.
Antwi was however apprehended together with the two motor bikes and sent to the Enchi police station for investigation.
ASP Anim Ofori said on March 3, with the help of Kordjourkrom committee members, Amadu was also arrested and sent to the police station.
