Accra, April 12, GNA - Mrs Gifty Afenyi-Dadzie, a former member of the Council of State has urged young people to learn from the good examples of the older generations and step out in confidence to help build the nation.
She said learning from good examples would enable younger individuals to step out in confidence to challenge the status quo and accomplish greater heights but also live out their uniqueness.
Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie was speaking at the inaugural meeting of the Intelligent Lady Series, a monthly network meeting for professional ladies in business and leadership held in Accra.
The event was attended by over a 100 professional females, young ladies, young leaders and tertiary students from various background and with various leadership roles.
Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie, who doubles as the National Prayer Director for AGLOW International and an ace media practitioner, said there were many possible ways through which an individual could become informed about his or her identity and that was through one identifying and overcoming ones weaknesses such as anger, laziness and procrastination.
Using her life experience as an example, she mentioned how important it was to be true to oneself in identifying “your weaknesses and strengths”.
She said acknowledging that every human being was created in God’s image reminds each person of being unique and special and that knowledge enables one to stay focus in life and achieve great feats.
Addressing questions on work, family and leadership roles posed by some participants, Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie said a perfect balance among these three could be attained through effective delegating and not relegating ones responsibilities in order to live a well-balanced life.
Ms Princess Sekyere, Founder of The Intelligent Lady Magazine and Network, in explaining the rationale for the Series, said it was to help gather young and aspiring professionals in business and leadership to listen to older accomplished and successful women and share in their experiences for successful living.
“It is important we learn from their mistakes and build on their strengths as we aspire to be successful in every field”, she noted.
Ms Sekyere encouraged young professionals to participate in the monthly meetings in order to learn real life lessons that would shape and improve their lives as well as challenge them to aspire for greatness.
Mrs Afenyi-Dadzie was honoured with a citation plaque for her tremendous contribution to the media industry, advancement of women, and service to country.
