Accra, April 16, GNA - Tahiru Haruna, a member of the of the national Armwrestling team - Golden Arms, has vowed to win at least four medals at the 2018 African Armwrestling Championship slated for July in Ghana.
Ghana’s Golden Arms made a remarkable outing in the maiden appearance at last year's championship held in Lagos, Nigeria after claiming a total of 21 medals to finish second behind hosts Nigeria.
Haruna, who won two gold medals at last year's championship has set sights on claiming four medals for Ghana, ''i am very delighted for winning this year's K-Balm Championship and am very confident going into the regional championships.
“I want to promise all Ghanaians that,I would win at least four medals at this year's African Championship and am very focused in achieving the set target.''
Haruna who is an amputee athlete father stressed on the financial challenges that confront some his colleagues but reiterated his focus on becoming a very successful athlete which help him build a better life.
''Some of us go through numerous finanicial challenges and for me my family has been very supportive and am focused on achieving my set goals in this support and am very hopeful of making it to the next level,'' Haruna said.
