Adukrom, Aug 1, GNA - Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, has commended Okere District for their level of preparedness to ensure a smooth running of the newly created district.
Visiting the District for the first time after its creation, the Local Government Minister said she was impressed with the temporal premises and the provision of almost all the basic infrastructure to ensure an efficient running of the District.
She noted that most of the areas that agitated for the new districts could not match up to Okere in terms of preparedness and commended the chiefs and people for their show of support and togetherness in making it possible for the Assembly to function.
Hajia Mahama was at the Assembly on Tuesday, to witness the endorsement of the President’s nominee, Daniel Kenneth for the DCE position at Adukrom.
Hajia Mahama announced that for that reason, the first assembly offices to be built for the newly created assemblies in the region, would be the permanent structure for the Okere District Assembly.
She therefore urge the chiefs and people of Okere to devout a land for the construction of a permanent Assembly office building.
She praised the chiefs of Okere, for the love and unity of purpose displayed throughout the creation of the District, the citing of the capital and now the nomination of a candidate for the DCE position.
According to her, that unity would in no doubt propel the Okere District to higher heights, adding that development only thrived in the midst of peace and tranquillity.
Mr Dan Botwe, Member of Parliament for Okere, said the people of Okere were one people with one destiny and one kyerepon language, the only district with such credentials.
