Accra, Aug. 07, GNA - President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Monday announced that the late Joseph Henry Mensah would be given a state burial.
This was when the bereaved family called on him at the Jubilee House - the Seat of Government.
The veteran politician died on July 12 and would be buried on Friday, August 17.
The President spoke of the role the deceased played in mentoring him and many other members of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia political tradition, as well as many of the Members of Parliament (MPs), who entered the House in 1996.
He added that the late J.H Mensah served Ghana well - right from the days of President Kwame Nkrumah through Professor K.A Busia, President Jerry John Rawlings to President J.A Kufuor.
He said his passing was “a huge loss to this nation”, and assured the family, that he would be given a befitting send off.
J.H Mensah was a founding member of the governing New Patriotic Party.
He served the country in various capacities from 1953, till his passing on at the ripe old age of 89.
His last official appointment was in 2005 as Senior Minister in the Kufuor Administration.
