Tema Aug. 10, GNA — The Presiding Member (PM) of the Tema West Municipal Authority (TWMA), Mr. Kwesi Poku Bosompem, has been honoured for his selfless service to the Tema community.
Mr. Bosompem is currently engaged in a campaign to provide kitchens to 19 schools in the TWMA as a means of projecting the cause of the School Feeding Programme, which is one of the many works that catches the eye of the awarding body.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the ceremony, Ms. Juliana Maikido Ayensu, Public Relations officer of SOKAS Protocol Services, the body in charge of the awards, said it was necessary to appreciate people who promoting the wellbeing of people as a way of motivating them to do more for society.
Observing how society slacked in this regard, Ms Ayensu said, “Our leaders don’t appreciate people who are doing great things for society, but we turn round to praise them when they are dead.”
A citation to honour the PM said, “This is a man who is relentless in all what he does; his passion is to pursue humanitarian causes and also a courageous politician who is very transparent in all his dealings.”
The citation further observed that Mr. Bosompem’s eloquence, outspoken nature and fairness in the political arena propelled him to become the first PM of the TWMA.
The awards, which took place at the Sarfo Memorial Temple of the Church of Pentecost, Community Five, Tema, honoured other persons including Nana Yaa Konadu of ‘wunpom ti sen’ fame, Peace FM, and Nana Asante Bediatuo, Secretary to the President of the Republic of Ghana.
SOKAS Protocol Services is a women’s organization within the Church of Pentecost which provides humanitarian services to deprived communities as well as identifying and appreciating persons with selfless services to society.
