Accra, Aug. 28, GNA - The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) has elected Charles Sitsofe Sakyi as the new Presbyter Executive (P.E) at an extra-ordinary General Assembly held at Ho, from August 24 to 26.
The Presbyter Executive, who is the lay member of the General Assembly Standing Committee is constitutionally mandated to generally assist the Moderator of the General Assembly and the Clerk of the General Assembly in the daily administration of the Church, among other responsibilities.
A statement from EPCG and copied to the Ghana News Agency said, Presbyter Charles Sitsofe Sakyi, who is a member of the Ashanti Presbytery is a Development Management and Administration Specialist with more than 32years working experience with local and international agencies.
It stated that “His vision for the church is to focus on advocacy for skill development and decentralization of operations of Evangelical Presbyterian Development and Relief Agency (EPDRA)”.
The EPDRA is a non-governmental body, which seeks to empower the poor and vulnerable in society and improve livelihoods through capacity building, sound environmental and health practices while promoting the gospel to build the Church.
The statement said the newly elected Presbyter is married with seven children.
The church also used the occasion to promulgate its revised version of the August 2010 constitution to facilitate its operational activities.
The church at the event on the theme: “Breaking New Grounds Revisited; Now it’s Our Turn” adopted a policy regarding the formation of parishes, districts and presbyteries.
Attending commissioners included representatives from all the 15 presbyteries as well as other corresponding members with the event ending with a thanksgiving service at the Dela Cathedral in Ho.
The church leadership called on its membership to remain focused and committed to its core values of evangelization in line with its five-year strategic plan to propel positive development of the Church.
