Accra, Oct. 19, GNA - Welbeck Oliviera Ayeh, traditional wrestling champion of Ghana and boxer, has gain entry into the national amateur team, the Black Bombers, after qualifying from the national individual championship held at the Accra Sports Stadium last week.
In an interview with the GNA Sports, Ayeh said, he was an all round sportsman and had always had the desire to join the Black Bombers, hence his recent qualification was a dream realised.
According to Ayeh, though he encountered several challenges, whilst preparing for the qualifiers, he was able to put them behind to secure a place in the team.
According to Ayeh, who is also a security officer at the National Sports Authority (NSA), he would do his best to be in the final team that would represent Ghana at next Olympic Games in Japan.
He expressed appreciation to Coach Ofori Asare, the national coach of the Bombers and Mr. George Lamptey, President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), for the encouragement and motivation they gave to all the boxers before the qualifiers.
Over 100 young boxers competed in the qualifiers after which 20 semifinalists and finalists were picked to form the nucleus of the new Black Bombers who are going to be prepared for international competitions.
