Accra, Oct. 29, GNA - Dr Carlos Ofori, President of the Health Aid Medicare, has called on the public to desist from self-medication and seek early medical attention anytime they felt unwell.
He said diseases detected early cost less in treatment and also could be treated early without any complications.
Dr Ofori made the call when the organization held free medical screening for people at Kwashieman and its environs on Saturday.
Some of the diseases screened were blood pressure monitoring, diabetes mellitus screening and education, hepatitis ‘B’ testing and counselling, HIV testing, breast screening, visual acuity, dental consult and general consultation.
Dr Ofori said the aim of the organization was to offer free medical care to as many communities as possible and also see that people living with hypertension and diabetes were supported.
He said the organization, with effect from next year, offered similar assistance to Women Aglow Fellowship, Customs Division of Ghana Revenue Authority, Police Headquarters and Vision One villages.
About 1,000 people in the community and its environs benefitted from the free health screening.
Health Aid Medicare is an organization made up of doctors and other health practitioners who provide free health screening to the public.
