Bolgatanga, Nov. 6, GNA - Mr Kweku Osei Bonsu, the Acting General Manager of the Ghana News Agency on Monday said the Agency will soon start using digital platforms to enhance news delivery.
Mr Osei Bonsu said the Agency’s credibility in news delivery was still high and it needed only to find ways and means of enhancing the speed at which stories were disseminated in the present age of evolving technology.
Mr Osei Bonsu said this when he interacted with staff, Stringers and National Service Personnel attached to the Agency in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, where he is on a three day working visit, accompanied by Mr Henry Adomako Oduro, Acting Head Of Engineering Department and Mr Moses Bawa, the Estate Manager of the Agency.
Though the Acting General Manager acknowledged logistical challenges by staff in the Regional Offices, he urged them to make the best of the situation and work hard to enable the Agency to remain relevant in the information sector.
He was optimistic that there were better days ahead and urged all to work harder to sustain the good name of the Agency, made over the years.
He said plans were afoot to retool the Agency to keep pace with modern ways of news delivery to include social media platforms that will speed up news dissemination, but urged all to be guided by objectivity and accuracy.
He urged the staff to work hard to justify the salaries paid to them by government and warned that he would not countenance any indiscipline from any staff member, especially those who were likely to bring disrepute to the name of the Agency.
He advised the staff to use laid down structures to address grievances and promote good ethical standards in the job.
Mr Oduro told the staff that a new Website was being created to keep track of news and enhance the use of social media by reporters.
